In Ramayana Period a gang of monkeys came during Ramayana Ravana war period got thirsty and the place where Raman pricked
ground by his arrow was called Nilavarai well.

1.Name of the Destination – Nilavarai Bottomless well

Type: Archeological Monument & Other Important Places
Description: This well is situated in Navatkuri which is near to Puthur. There are two stories regarding this well formation. One is, it naturally formed by chemical reaction and another story, the well was formed when the hero Rama of Kambaramayana story shot his bow on earth as to find any spring to quit his thirsty. It is believed that it has no bottom, and it is connected with sea. This well is used by Department of Irrigation for the purposes of providing drinking water for the neighboring areas.
Accessibility
(1) - Jaffna bus stand -turn left and travel 600m through the hospital road - turn left and travel 14.6km through Jaffna Point Pedro road
(AB20) -Puthoor junction -turn left and travel 2.6km along kantharodai road
- Nilavarai well.
(2) - Jaffna Bus stand –turn left side from Vempadi Junction – Ariyakulam junction - turn right – travel 2km through Point Pedro Road
(AB 20) – travel back side of Nallur kandasamy kovil – turn left – travel through Raja veethy – Nilavarai Junction
Transport mode Jaffna – Point Pedro buses (750 & 751 bus up to Puthur Junction then hired taxi) and direct bus 986 through Raja veethy bus
